Advancement Assistant

Reports To: Director of Advancement
Position Summary: Do you enjoy marketing, event planning, fundraising and sales? Do you have a passion for mission-driven, non-profit business and faith-based K-12 education? If so, come be part of our growing team in the Advancement Department at Sound Christian Academy!
We are looking for energetic, highly motivated and experienced development professionals to come make a meaningful contribution to a school that has been significantly impacting the lives of students and families throughout Tacoma for more than 60 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fundraising platform experience such as Greater Giving, MinistryLinq, Q-Suite, ect.

Athletic Office Assistant

SUMMARY: Under direction of the Athletic Director, the assistant provides secretarial and general support for the athletic office.
GENERAL: Performs duties for the athletic director as requested relating to telephone calls, typing, filing, typing game schedules, helping check online accuracy of schedules, eligibility tracking, creating published materials (i.e. brochures), and overall support of athletic office.
BASIC DUTIES:
  • Help organize paperwork and power point information for Parent Information Nights.
  • Type game schedules and rosters and double check entered correctly on online sites.
  • Help line up gate/ ticket volunteers for each home game through Sign up Genius.
  • Work with A.D. at some home sporting events, sport banquets, Open House Night. (This will require working a few evenings) 
  • If the A.D. also directs other departments, then the athletic secretary will assist in these areas.
  • Help track all athletic eligibility and file paperwork for athletes.
  • Create transportation / medical consent notebooks for each team.
  • Help stock and organize medical travel bags for the teams.
  • Help with areas of the sponsorship program as needed.
  • Create certificates for the banquets and gathering lettering items for each athlete.
  • Run occasional errands to bank, to purchase items, or to drop sponsorship gifts.
  • Make copies for athletic department and help type up any needed documents.
  • Help with gym set up for games and help prepare locker rooms on home games.
  • Help scan in athlete’s physicals into RENWEB
  • Help with recording game records, awards, and GPA on Sport’s Tracker spreadsheet.
  • Help track and keep count of needed athletic supplies and inventory.
  • Help assist with organization, cleanliness and keep up of gym and locker rooms.
  • Help with the locking of outside athletic doors and locker room doors after school starts.
  • Help order trophies for all athletic programs.
  • Help keep ice freezer stocked with bags of ice and stock “crash cart” for games.
  • Create Sign up Geniuses for game volunteers and Evites for Banquet invitations
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE
  • Must be proficient or willing to learn,  Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Sign up Genius and similar programs.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, writing and communication skills.
  • An ability to establish positive, effective and appropriate working relationships.
  • The ability to exercise judgment and discretion of sensitive and private information.
  • Helpful to have an understanding knowledge of sports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to accept and support the school’s mission statement and core faith values.
  • Must be able to effectively operate a computer, telephone, and copier.
  • Must be organized, communicate well with athletic director, and a hard worker.

Head Cheerleader Coach

Job Summary: Directs cheer program for fall and winter sport seasons. Ability to instruct and motivate students for a sideline based cheer program, not stunt or competitive based. This position requires extensive evening and some weekend work. Must be available for practice after school and willing and able to accompany and supervise the cheerleading squad at all home and away games during the season.
Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct annual tryouts and team selection.
  • Coach and work with cheerleaders to learn and practice cheers.
  • Supervise cheerleaders at Pep Assemblies and all home and away games.
  • Work with cheerleaders and parents in fund-raising efforts.
  • Advise cheerleaders following policy in the Co-curricular Code.
Other Job Functions
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience Required
  • Cheerleading experience and background is an asset.
  • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required
Licenses & Certifications
  • High School graduate.
  • WIAA Stunt Certification Preferred

Before and After School Care worker

Sound Christian is hiring a Before and After School Care worker to work 3-6 hours a week.  Schedule will be 2:30-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday.

High School JV Volleyball Coach

Sound Christian is hiring a JV Volleyball Coach for the 2021-2022 school year. The applicant must agree with our Statement of Faith. The applicant must have knowledge in teaching the fundamentals of the game of volleyball, the ability to commit to the high school schedule, the desire to build a program, and the ability to create a positive and encouraging environment.

Bus Drivers

Sound Christian Academy is hiring part-time bus drivers. Flexible hours. Driver needed for regular afternoon route, field trips during the school day, and occasional afternoon/evening athletic transportation. Applicants are required to have their CDL (In some cases training will be covered by the school), be CPR and first aid certified, and meet the WDOT physical requirements.
